Our Story

Rooted in Faith. Welcoming for Today. Hopeful for Tomorrow.

Originally organized as Bellevue Methodist Church, our congregation has served the Falls Mountain community for more than 70 years. Today, as Falls Mountain Global Methodist Church, we continue that legacy of worship, service, and faith.

Today, we are part of the Global Methodist Church, a denomination committed to historic, biblical Christianity expressed through the Wesleyan tradition. That commitment shapes everything we do: we hold to the authority of Scripture, the central place of Jesus Christ, and the call to grow in personal holiness and active love for our neighbours.

We are small enough that you will be known by name. We are settled enough to be steady. And we are convinced that the best days of this church are still ahead.

OUR CALLING

“You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden.”
— Matthew 5:14

Jesus' words in Matthew 5:14 capture something important about who we want to be. Like a light on a hill, we want Falls Mountain to be visible not for our own sake, but so that the hope, grace, and love of Christ can be seen in the community around us.

What We Value

Scripture
Scripture

The Bible is the inspired Word of God — the foundation of everything we teach and the lens through which we see the world. We read it together, wrestle with it honestly, and let it shape us.

Worship
Worship

Worship is the center of our week. We gather to sing, to pray, to hear the Word preached, and to be reminded who God is and who we are in Christ.

optimizing
Community

Following Jesus was never meant to be done alone. We are committed to actually knowing one another — celebrating together, grieving together, serving together, and walking through ordinary life together.

Welcome
Welcome

Hospitality is at the heart of who we are. We want every person who walks through our doors — longtime member or first-time visitor — to feel noticed, welcomed, and valued.

Mission
Mission

The church does not exist only for its members. We seek to be a tangible blessing to Gadsden — to be the light of Christ visibly at work in the places where we live, learn, and serve.

What We Believe

Centered on Christ. Rooted in Scripture.

One God, eternally existing in three persons — Father, Son, and Holy Spirit — the Creator of heaven and earth, perfect in love, holy and just.

Fully God and fully human, born of the virgin Mary, crucified for our sins, raised bodily from the dead, ascended to the Father, and coming again in glory. In Him alone we find salvation, forgiveness, and new life.

Sent by the Father and the Son to dwell within believers — to comfort, to convict, to empower, and to lead Christ's people into truth and holy living.

The Old and New Testaments are the inspired, authoritative Word of God — our final rule for faith and life.

One holy, catholic (universal), and apostolic Church, made up of all those who trust in Christ. The local church — gathered for worship, the sacraments, and life together — is God's chosen way of forming His people.

We look forward to the return of Christ, the resurrection of the dead, and the renewal of all things — a new heaven and a new earth where God will dwell with His people forever.

As Methodists in the Wesleyan tradition, we hold that God's grace meets us before we even know to look for it, that we are saved by grace through faith in Jesus Christ, and that the Christian life is a journey of growing in love for God and neighbour — what John Wesley called sanctification.

We celebrate two sacraments: Holy Baptism and Holy Communion.

“Enlarge the place of your tent, and let the curtains of your habitations be stretched out; do not hold back; lengthen your cords and strengthen your stakes.”

— Isaiah 54:2
